Description

The Schatzberg circular route starts in the village center of Alpbach. Hike along the street past Hotel Böglerhof, further to the Congress Centrum Alpbach, continuing out of the village past the beautiful houses and the ancient farms until you reach a left turn towards Alpbacher Heimtatweg / Kneipp facility. Follow the path uphill to the Kneipp facility and from there follow the signposts "Blaiksteig" upwards towards "Hösljoch".

At the Hösl chapel, turn right following the signposts "Thalerkögl - Schatzberg". You will pass the new and old Höslalm. The forest road now joins a trail. This leads briskly uphill to the Schatzbergalm (approx. 2 h 30 min). From here it takes about 30 min to reach the summit of Schatzberg at 1,898 m. Just below the summit cross you will see the Gipföhit, another place to stop for refreshments.

For the return route either directly from the summit, above the new mountain station of the Alpbach/Wildschönau connecting lift, take path number A28 downhill, or back to the "Schatzberglacke" and from here downhill via the "Alpenrosenweg" to "Wurmeggalm" (both trails join here again), further to "Pechalm" up to Alpengasthof "Rossmoos", then about 300 m along the Upper High Path back to Alpbach. After the Bergwald house, turn left into the forest and return to the starting point via the Mühlbachweg.
